Nearly a day after the detention of former US lawmaker Cynthia McKinney by Israeli forces, Washington has yet to make a reaction.
Israeli Navy detained former US congresswoman and Nobel Prize laureate Cynthia McKinney and twenty other human rights activists on board a relief boat outside Israel’s territorial waters on Tuesday as they were heading to Gaza on a humanitarian mission.
Tel Aviv claims the boat was trying to break Israel’s two-year siege on Gaza.
Ms McKinney — the 2008 Green Party nominee for President of the United States– has accused Tel Aviv of violating the international law by seizing an aid vessel in international waters.
“This is an outrageous violation of international law against us. Our boat was not in Israeli waters, and we were on a human rights mission to the Gaza Strip,” McKinney said in a statement.
Green Party leaders have called on the White House and the US State Department to intervene and demand the immediate release of all the activists.
On Monday, the International Committee of the Red Cross warned of dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, saying 1.5 million Palestinians living in the coastal sliver are ‘trapped in despair’ because of the continuing Israeli blockade on the territory.
RBN is trying so hard to paint McKinney as a victim. McKinney is nothing short of a traitor. When in office the only groups that she was interested in representing were the muslim factions. She could have cared less for any American citizen. Now we are suppose to angry at Israel because they are holding her??????? I feel no sympathy for her or any of the others on that ship. I’m sorry but I cannot buy into the claims by RBN about Israel. I’m not saying that Israel is never at fault but I will never ever see things through the eyes of the Arabs/muslims. Until the day that I see the Israelis cutting off heads and screaming ‘allah akbar’ I will not change my mind.

you need to do some research. Israel has just butchered over 1000 people in Palestine because 3 Israeli soldiers were killed. You think that is justice? Sounds like a holocaust. Israel is occupying Gaza and imprisoning the city. If Israel would stop Killing people and leave, things would improve. As for cutting off heads, many suspect that the MOSSAD cut off the heads and made it look like the muslims did it. Israel is very good at deception. If you don’t believe me, read their holy Talmud and see what motivates them.

I share your disdain for most of McKinney’s views and associates. I can think of almost nothing in her beliefs with which I can agree.
However, she IS an American citizen being held illegally by a rogue, terrorist, despotic government and is due the protection of “our” government. The reason for the silence from DC is Israel’s power over the State Dep’t., Congress and the administration.
Having read several of your posts on this site I have come to the conclusion that you do not post to discuss but rather to draw attention and discussion away from the subject. If so I would ask that you refrain from future posts so that those with knowledge of the truth may indulge in intelligent discourse which I believe you are intent on disrupting.

I don’t think it right for us NOT to go to bat anytime our citizens our held against their will be a foreign government, whether friend or foe. While I also find McKinney’s politics repgnant, I can’t justify a seizure of our citizens in international waters. However, if private citizens choose to violate another country’s laws, even if for the right reasons, they ARE subjecting themselves to arrest and must deal with the consequences of their actions. Also, while Israel has done some nefarious things over the years, like the LIberty incident in 1967, the arabs/muslims have ALWAYS been a war like people. Islam was spread through the sword, not peaceful conversion. Three times in history, muslim armies came dangerously close to overrunning Europe; in the 700s, when they were stopped at the battle of Tours in modern day France, and twice at the gates of Vienna(this time the muslims being the Ottoman Turks rather than Arabs) during the 1500s and 1600s(don’t remember exact years). Seldom have muslim conquerors shown kindness and respect for the peoples they’ve overrun. Whether you like Israel or not, those who profess the muslim faith in a serious(read fundamentalist) manner are our enemy.
