In a Republic, these Senators and Congressmen are basically super-citizens with multiplied clout and the ability to be heard far beyond the average citizen. What I cannot understand is why do they not have more power to indict and subpeona these organized criminals? The “tongue lashings” are great, but not very effective at even slowing down the corruption.
We seem to have a completely impotent legislative branch of government, while it should be the strongest.
