DALLAS, Tx. (INTELLIHUB.COM) — Three gun rights advocates with a group known as “Come and Take It Texas” open carried their rifles publicly Wednesday night along side of Ferguson solidarity protestors to ensure that a safe and non-violent demonstration wouldn’t turn into a looting free-for-all as seen in other cities across America after the recent St. Louis grand jury’s announcement not to indict Ferguson officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Police followed demonstrators, about 30, closely while they exercised their First Amendment rights to peacefully assemble in the downtown area, never leaving the sidewalks on Lamar St. on their 2-mile walk.

Mathew Short, one of the Come and Take It Texas members, told Intellihub News Wednesday that an African-American woman who attended the Ferguson solidarity rally was openly displaying hate toward whites, inciting a “race war“, despite Short’s attempt to hug her showing only “love” for the cause.

“If per chance private property starts to be destroyed this evening we will put ourselves between the crowd and the private property. We’ve watched across the country how these protests have turned into riots. […] The last couple nights in Ferguson and in Oakland there were buildings and places that burned. And we don’t need are cities burning to the ground because people are upset for any reason.”, said Short in an interview with Chanel 8′s Jason Whitely.
