According to an advance excerpt President Obama also said, “This isn’t going to be solved overnight. This is something that is deeply rooted in our society, it’s deeply rooted in our history…”

You would think that our President winning election twice would have answered this question of racism in America. Or maybe you thought that the fact that we happen to be the most ethnically and culturally diverse nation to ever exist on planet Earth might give us some credibility on race issues. But no… even our mixed-race President is calling us racist now.

Well… not the voters who voted for him, of course. Those people aren’t racist, just the people who disagree with him. Oh, and the people in Missouri, New York City and Florida, where the recent high profile deaths of three black men have caused great consternation in our country. Sure, the voters in Missouri elected a Democrat Governor and the city of St. Louis is a Democrat stronghold (of which Ferguson is a suburb). Sure, New York City is one of the most liberal places in our nation – recently electing a borderline communist as their mayor. Sure, central Florida is about as ethnically diverse a place as you’ll find… but RACISM.

Nothing else… just RACISM.

We can all say it. But some of us take it more seriously and won’t simply use it to replace talking points.

Look, racism exists. It exists across the country in liberal communities and in conservative ones. It exists among in white communities and in non-white communities. Racism can be found in rich neighborhoods and in poor ones. People in the media are as likely to feel it as blue-collar workers. However, the liberal predisposition to turn to racism at every bump in their agenda is tiresome and dishonest.

Americans are less racist and more culturally-sensitive than at any other time in the history of our nation. In America we appreciate and value diversity while asking for acculturation. This process has failed miserably in other nations (throughout Europe), but here in America we’ve done better with this than anywhere else in the world. In America, minorities have more opportunity than anywhere else in the world. How do we know? Because no nation receives (and approves) more immigration requests than the United States. Millions of people are trying to get in, every day, from ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Racism is a problem – but it’s not up to our politicians to “fix” our culture. It’s up to us. Our politicians should be concerned about policy – if there are racist policies, laws, codes or regulations… those should be discussed. However, all politicians like President Obama do when they discuss this nebulous idea of “deeply rooted” racism is divide and polarize us even more.

If liberals really want to make things better they need to stop playing politics with culture.
