Washington, D.C.: Late last night, the Alabama Senate sent the nation’s strongest pro-life bill to the desk of Governor Kay Ivey. By a vote of 25-6, senators passed the legislation that would ban nearly all abortions in the state. The House overwhelmingly passed the bill earlier this year.

“Pro-lifers across the nation can celebrate today with Alabama in passing the strongest protection for the right to life we have seen,” said Ed Martin, president of Phyllis Schlafly Eagles. “The courageous pro-life warriors in the Alabama Senate deserve our gratitude and respect for never letting up on the truth. Science proves an unborn child is a unique human life. Even the smallest humans deserve the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Period.

“America is on the side of life. This bill is yet another piece setting up a battle at the Supreme Court. Pro-life heroes like those in the Alabama Senate won’t stop fighting until all lives are protected. It’s time to overturn the tragedy of Roe v. Wade
