Jewish Voice for Peace Stands Up for Justice in Palestine

Dear Charles,

It’s sickening to watch Israel march ahead with its annexation plan. In June alone, Israel demolished 43 Palestinian homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, leaving 137 Palestinians without a place to live. Let’s be clear: Annexation is a moral abomination that makes Israeli apartheid official.

Despite everything, I’ve been inspired watching JVP members take to the streets in protest. From the Bay Area to Boston, D.C. to Indianapolis, JVP members made sure that Jewish voices lifted in solidarity with Palestinians to send a powerful message to Trump and Netanyahu: Not in our name. We oppose annexation and apartheid, and we will not be silenced.

Not all of us can be on the streets right now – but our members aren’t letting COVID stop them from speaking up for Palestinian rights. From their homes, members are phone banking, contacting their representatives, signing petitions, and doing everything in their power to make sure Palestinian freedom stays part of the national conversation.

Undercover of the US epidemic of street demonstrations, Israel continues its brutality toward unarmed Palestinian youth.

Black Lives Matters and armed organizers are a convenient news source which our controlled press uses to avoid coverage of the murders of uncounted Palestinians, and the announced, imminent annexation* of the West Bank and Gaza. (*Annexaton, in this case, means armed invasion)

Recently, Gazans held what may be the first-ever race for one-legged youths on crutches! One US media published a photo of half-dozen young former runners racing on crutches. Several racers had still bandaged stumps. The story neglected to point out that Israel provided the disabled runners by adopting a shoot-to-maim policy!  A recently released Israeli soldier boasted that he had Knee-shot many Palestinian (he gave an exact number). He proudly stated he kept count by pocketing the spent brass when he hit his mark.

We Hold These Truths asks rhetorically, (Call us if you want the answer) why does our press hide behind secretly organized street events, while Gaza has been a shooting gallery with human targets for two generations? Why are our police criticized for occasional wrong or questionable acts, while Israel’s military, which we taxpayer support, maims and kills Arab youths (some Christians) almost daily?
