Savages Target Four Police Officers in 24-Hour Period, One Dead : Law and order better come swiftly and with a vengeance.

November 21, 2016 in News by RBN Staff

President-elect Donald Trump vowed that with his presidency “law and order” would be restored to our nation. Never before have we so desperately needed a promise to be made whole.

Since Sunday — in just a 24-hour-period alone — four police officers were targeted for execution. One of them paid the ultimate price, losing his life and leaving behind two adult children. The other three officers should recover, but at least one is in critical condition fighting for his life.

In one incident, San Antonio detective Benjamin Marconi was sitting in his squad car writing out a traffic ticket to a motorist when an assailant in another vehicle pulled up from behind him and shot him to death. Marconi was a 20-year veteran of the force and leaves behind two adult children.

Mike Helle, president of the San Antonio Police Officers Association said Marconi “was a great guy. People loved him, and certainly, he had an aura about him.”

“You had to go out of your way to not like him. So he’s that good of a guy,” Helle told CBS.

Law enforcement sources indicate that a suspect is in custody but we are waiting for conformation on those reports. San Antonio police chief William McManus said he likely has no connection to the original motorist who was pulled over.

“This is everyone’s worst nightmare,” said McManus.

“Unfortunately, like Dallas, like Baton Rouge, it’s happened here now.”

The second incident occurred in St. Louis, where a police sergeant was shot twice in the face in what the local police chief called an “ambush.” The officer is hospitalized in critical condition but is expected to survive. The suspect was killed in a shootout with police early Monday morning, CBS reports.

Police Chief Sam Dotson said “fortunately for the blessing of God the officer’s going to survive.”

He would not identify the officer except to say he is 46-years-old and a 20-year veteran of the force. The officer is also married and a father of three.

CBS reports that the officer was sitting in traffic early Sunday evening when a car pulled up alongside him and fired into the car.

“This officer was driving down the road and was ambushed by an individual who pointed a gun at him from inside of his car and shot out the police officer’s window,” Dotson said.

The other two incidents occurred in Gladstone, Missouri, and Sanibel, Florida.

In Gladstone, a police officer was shot along with a suspect and in Sanibel an officer was shot in the shoulder during a traffic stop, according to reports.

“It’s always difficult, especially in this this day and age, where police are being targeted across the country,” McManus said.

Indeed it is — and disturbingly, little has been done to protect our law enforcement officers. In fact under the current administration, those who target police officers have been emboldened, as they fear no consequences. We can only hope that Trump will make good on his promise and that after taking office, justice will indeed come swiftly, and with a vengeance.
