School Demands Mom Sign Anti-Flag Form, She Responds With Something Better

After her student came home with a sick permission slip for what her child’s school wants students to do with the flag, a shocked mother decided to respond with something better than her signature since she refused to sign. Rather than following the ridiculous instructions, the proud patriot sent back something of her own, letting the teacher know exactly how she felt.
In a photo that emerged on social media, the unidentified mother couldn’t believe what her student’s public school was asking parental permission for, proving just how far our nation has devolved because of political correctness and the infiltration of anti-American residents. Rather than signing for her child to be exempt from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the rightfully irate parent couldn’t believe that the school was even offering this as an option and sent back a priceless response instead.
Catering to Islamic students and atheists who are mad that God is mentioned in the pledge, the district decided to send a form home for all parents to sign if they wanted their student to sit this tradition out. In the rhetoric-riddled form, it states that it’s a parent’s right to exclude their child from the Pledge of Allegiance, which specifies that they don’t have to stand or place their hand over their heart if they don’t want to.

Rather than accepting this, the mother wrote in her own opinion, stating the embarrassment this is to our country. “This is the dumbest thing I have ever read and I am so ashamed of this,” she wrote at the bottom, in lieu of signing her student out of showing respect for our flag.
There should not even be an option of pledging allegiance to the flag of the country you choose to live in. This should be a basic requirement, and for those who disrespect our flag and don’t like what it represents, they shouldn’t be living here. It’s a sad state of the nation today when being patriotic is considered offensive and those who aren’t are the ones who dictate the rules.

On 18 August 2016, Facebook user Micah Brienen posted a photograph described as showing a form brought home by her niece (from Killearn Lakes Elementary School, part of the Leon County School District in Florida), allowing parents to request that their child be excused from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in school:
Because the document is titled “Pledge of Allegiance Request,” many viewers misinterpreted it as a form that needed to be filled out and signed by a parent for a student to be allowed to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school, but it actually represents the opposite.
Florida state law allows that “each district school board may adopt rules to require, in all of the schools of the district, programs of a patriotic nature to encourage greater respect for the government of the United States and its national anthem and flag” but requires that public school students be excused from reciting the Pledge of Allegiance if they have written consent from their parents:
This [form] is a response to a Florida law voted on by the Florida Legislature and signed by Governor Rick Scott. We are required to comply with the law. Florida Statute 1003.44 dictates to all school districts in Florida that, “each student shall be informed by a written notice published in the student handbook or a similar publication pursuant to s. 1006.07(2) that the student has the right not to participate in reciting the pledge.
In addition to providing a right to opt out of saying the Pledge of Allegiance, Florida law also requires schools to inform students about their ability to opt out of the pledge by “posting a notice in a conspicuous place”:
Each student shall be informed by posting a notice in a conspicuous place that the student has the right not to participate in reciting the pledge. Upon written request by his or her parent, the student must be excused from reciting the pledge.
Many social media commentators took the opportunity to blame President Obama for the supposed lack of patriotism encapsulated in this opt-out form. However, students in Florida have had the right to opt out reciting the Pledge since at least 2000, long before the Barack Obama was elected to the White House.
That connection between an older Florida law and President Obama might have come about because the posting of this opt-out form to social media followed closely on the heels of a fake news storyreporting that the President had signed an executive order banning the Pledge from all American schools.
