NFL players from more than ten teams returned to protesting the national anthem after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Similarly, fans have continued to boycott games.

Images from games over the weekend showed empty seats in stadiums across the country.

Photos from the San Fransisco 49ers game with the Seattle Seahawks showed a decent amount of empty seats.

Pictures from the Indiana Colts game with the Tennessee Titans showed empty seats.

MetLife stadium in New Jersey, Paul Brown Stadium in Cincy, Ohio, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta had the same problem.

The lack of fans showing up to support their teams is a serious problem that has dragged out through the season, and with defiant players continuing to protest, it is not a problem that is going away anytime soon.

ESPN reported that on Thanksgiving day, Los Angeles Chargers tackle Russell Okung raised his fist during the national anthem.

New York Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon knelt before the game with the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving night, according to the sports network.

The Washington Post reported that the league has attempted to solve the problem by keeping teams in the locker room during the national anthem in next year’s season, but that could only exacerbate the NFL’s problems by emphasizing how they have willingly put up with kneeling, sitting, and other forms of protest.

President Donald Trump slammed the idea, calling it as bad as kneeling.

The NFL is now thinking about a new idea – keeping teams in the Locker Room during the National Anthem next season. That’s almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!…..

Trump is right — this could be the issue that destroys the league.

If the NFL continues to lose fans, any policies they enact next year may be too little too late, as there will be no fans left to care what the NFL does.
