United Airlines Plans to Hire Based on Race and Gender, Not Ability or Skill

Here is an actual tweet from United Airlines, “Our flight deck should reflect the diverse group of people on board our planes every day. That’s why we plan for 50% of the 5,000 pilots we train in the next decade to be women or people of color.”

The claim sounds nice, but guess what matters most to those riding the airplane? The skill of the pilot, not the race or gender. Just when you hope United would report its latest innovations in safety, they jump in the deep end of the woke pool and decide the skin color of their pilots is the most important trait for a pilot.

Now we’re going to send hundreds of people at a time through the air at hundreds of miles per hour based on racial justice. We’re all for treating people equally, but shouldn’t safety be the top priority instead of skin color?

Michael Knowles at The Daily Wire observes that as conservatives, we realize the past has some impact on our present, but the argument for neo-affirmative action falls apart at a certain point. We can support equality without abandoning common sense—and job quality.
