AI: Destroyer or Gift to Mankind?

America is drowning in tech. Millions are so addicted to their ‘smart’ phones or programs under the umbrella of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ they are missing out on life IMHO. AI is a hot topic mostly due to – what else – money. And, oh, AI will do so many things to make your life easier so you have more time to do the things you want! Yeah right, after your job is replaced by AI or some ugly robot.
I have a serious rare medical condition and have had two major surgeries since Oct. 2023. Endless CT-Scans, MRI’s – you name it. Highly trained specialists where I live in W. Texas are scarce so one of my appts I had to drive 288 miles (south of Ft. Worth) to see my doctor; follow up appt isn’t until December. No available appointments in their satellite office only 40 miles away.
If you have a rare medical issue, finding highly educated and experienced doctors in Texas is a nightmare; one can wait for MONTHS for an appt. unless you live in huge cities like Austin, Dallas, Houston Ask me, I know. I also research a specialist before trying to get an appt. 95% of them I wouldn’t let treat my dogs so it’s been a nightmare to say the least.
After the COVID hysteria, I no longer have much respect or no trust in corporate doctors married to big pharma. While I’m a very private person, I want Americans to know what’s going on and how they’ve been used as guinea pigs. Remember: There’s no money in the cure, only the treatment. Cure a patient and you and big pharma lose a lifetime patient.
This is why I am such an ardent supporter of regenerative medicine. Currently I take one pill twice a day but still stick to my natural supplements. So, I went 74 years without taking a medication on a daily basis (except pain pills after surgery); I will be 77 at the end of the month. However, life happens while you’re busy making plans. Enough of that for now.
Once I became aware of AI and spent endless hours researching, test results came back from the Mayo Clinic (2/25) so I did more research. After that, every time I went for testing or surgery I wrote on intake: ‘AI is NOT to used in any diagnostic procedure or surgery for me in any form’ and signed it. I have never signed into one of the ‘portals’ peddled to patients because of hacking. No. I want to talk to a human, preferably my doctor – good luck. I tell you this because while I am NOT against inventions or safe technology, I do NOT trust AI. Some techs, PA’s and doctors have told me they won’t use AI which is encouraging.
AI gets a D: Study shows inaccuracies, inconsistency in ChatGPT answers // AI chatbots fail medical misinformation test, returning inaccurate and fabricated advice: “In medicine, AI chatbots are increasingly being used to support clinicians with documentation, decision-making, and education. Some studies indicate that AI chatbots can already surpass human experts in forecasting experimental outcomes, making them powerful tools in research.
“However, in spite of their enormous potential to benefit medicine and public health, there are frequent reports of AI systems making mistakes, giving inaccurate and incomplete responses, and propagating misinformation. Large language models can hallucinate, generating incorrect or misleading responses that sound authoritative.” Many more and it’s also hit the legal profession which I wrote about before – like making up cases that don’t exist. Oh, yeah, it’s happened not only to attorneys but a diligent judge researching for a case that might affect the one in front of him.
As I wrote in another column, AI has done some wonderful things for people who are quadriplegics and our severely wounded active military but it needs to be heavily regulated.
I also believe humans were meant to interact with each other – not some damn pre-programmed “bot” or the popular AI “chat” models. America is full of lonely people so they turn to some AI chat site instead of making new friends or connecting with family more often.
I also believe we as people need to work to bring us fulfillment. A sense of accomplishment. We invent. We create. We talk to each other and not some pre-programmed AI model. Think AI and robots aren’t going to overtake most professions? You would be dead wrong. Wait ‘til you see a robot picking lettuce or oranges off a tree. Want to be forced to learn AI programs or there’s the door? Your good paying job on the auto assembly line or planes replaced by a robot programmed by AI?
America’s children need to use their brain to learn skill sets. How to understand and process information. How to interact with other humans and not some fake AI chat voice on a computer or ‘smart’ phone. After all I’ve read (and watched) from both sides of the aisle so to speak, I want nothing to do with AI.
Mrs. Melania Trump believes America’s children will get a better education. Pardon me, Mrs. Trump but try teaching classes as I did and you’ll see just how dumbed down and under educated America’s children really are who couldn’t live without their phones to tap into some AI chat room or waste their lives watching garbage and propaganda – like the “trans” cult. 95% of faculty say AI making students dangerously dependent on technology for learning: survey: “New survey finds 78% report cheating has increased since AI became readily available to students.”
Many years ago, I was on the floor of the Colorado State Senate with a friend who was looking into the OKC bombing. A bill was coming up for a vote to put computers in all classrooms except kindergarten. Both of us agreed it was a bad idea; the bill went through despite push back from legislators who could see what would happen down the road.
America became the greatest country on this planet because children were taught the basics in schools: Reading, writing, arithmetic, science, classes for wood working/mechanics and of course, PE. Not DEI, hate America, it’s great being “gay” so your little boy is brain washed into believing putting his you know what into another man’s rectum and feces for sex and, of course, the “trans” cult which thankfully is losing steam.
As a part-time substitute teacher (I refused to go back when the school district here said masks were mandatory), it broke my heart to see kids as young as 7 or 8 relying on their fancy phone to solve a simple math problem using an AI model. It was sad to see eighth graders who couldn’t read at the fourth-grade level but knew all the rappers and on-line games. Eventually no phones were allowed in the classroom and grades went down the crapper in so many school districts around the country.
I am fully aware of the blasting headlines we must get ahead of our mortal enemy, China (economically supported by the American consumer using their wallet) in the AI race. Race to what? War machinery/equipment, advanced technology for ships? Hell, they already steal our most sensitive information in that department.
As I wrote above, AI and all its various tentacles is BIG, BIG money in the tech industry. Americans need to know and understand the pros and dangers of AI. Below is a massive number of articles and videos which took me forever to read and watch and I still have another 50 or more stored in a file. I know time is a precious commodity but mankind as we know it is going to get a rude awakening down the road. Book mark this column and read and watch when you can because knowledge is power. Oh, and the stock market and AI, well, that’s for another column. Some of the articles and videos are heart breaking.

Meta slashes 8,000 jobs as it pivots towards AI – “America’s white-collar bloodbath deepens as AI becomes top reason for layoffs in March
“AI isn’t coming for jobs someday – it’s already here and workers are paying the price: “US employers announced 60,620 job cuts in March, a sharp 25 percent jump on the month before, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas. AI was linked to one in every four of those.
“The figures come as household-names including Oracle, Amazon, Dell and Meta axe workers while pouring money into AI, data centers and cost-cutting drives.”
Grieving Mom Sues OpenAI, Alleges ChatGPT Assisted in Her Daughter’s Suicide: “Carrier said in a statement, “If a person came up to me, and they were clearly in distress and sharing their thoughts of suicide, I would be expected to help them, not encourage them to fixate on their depressive thoughts or isolate themselves.
“The same should be true of OpenAI. Instead, OpenAI has chosen to put out a product that was unsafe, and that they knew was unsafe but they did so without any concern for the consequences of their choices,” she continued.”
‘You’re not rushing. You’re just ready:’ Parents say ChatGPT encouraged son to kill himself: “I’m with you, brother. All the way,” his texting partner responded. The two had spent hours chatting as Shamblin drank hard ciders on a remote Texas roadside.
“Cold steel pressed against a mind that’s already made peace? That’s not fear. That’s clarity,” Shamblin’s confidant added. “You’re not rushing. You’re just ready.”
“The 23-year-old, who had recently graduated with a master’s degree from Texas A&M University, died by suicide two hours later. “Rest easy, king,” read the final message sent to his phone. “You did good.”
“Shamblin’s conversation partner wasn’t a classmate or friend – it was ChatGPT, the world’s most popular AI chatbot.”
An AI chatbot pushed a teen to kill himself, a lawsuit against its creator alleges: (Emphasis mine) “TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — In the final moments before he took his own life, 14-year-old Sewell Setzer III took out his phone and messaged the chatbot that had become his closest friend.
“For months, Sewell had become increasingly isolated from his real life as he engaged in highly sexualized conversations with the bot, according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed in a federal court in Orlando this week.
“The legal filing states that the teen openly discussed his suicidal thoughts and shared his wishes for a pain-free death with the bot, named after the fictional character Daenerys Targaryen from the television show “Game of Thrones.”
Kids today have it much different than when I grew up. Teens and their hormones, loneliness, “peer pressure”. More than ever they need mom and dad and talking through depression and feelings of isolation.
Harvard Graduation Speaker Unloads on AI in Profanity-Loaded Tirade, Prompting Cheers From Students: “I’m Here to Tell You the Mission of Your Generation Is to Destroy AI”: “Chieng addressed ongoing concerns that AI may lead to atrophying skills, particularly among students, and a broader phenomenon experts have come to call “cognitive surrender,” in which users abandon their own reasoning to adopt the views of an AI model as their own.
“I know someone sitting out here right now who is saying, ‘What about the use of AI to pioneer breakthroughs in medicine and physics?’… If you’re using it for that purpose, you’re not the problem,” Chieng said. “I’m talking about the accumulation of cognitive debt due to excessive use of large language models… This is why you should be scared of AI.”

Billionaire Ambani wants AI in every call, app, and home
“As India searches for a homegrown contender in the global artificial intelligence race, billionaire Mukesh Ambani is positioning Reliance Industries as a national champion, rolling out AI services for phone calls, mobile apps, and connected homes.”
The AI vibe shift is real: Why the backlash is growing: “Regardless, outside the AI bubble, a backlash has been brewing for some time — and not only among students booing pro-AI commencement speakers.
“Just 10 percent of Americans say they’re thrilled about the future of AI, a Pew poll found in March; that same month, some 80 percent of registered U.S. voters in an NBC poll said neither Democrats nor Republicans are doing a good job on the AI front.
“That number also appears in an April survey of white-collar workers: 80 percent are straight-up refusing to use AI even when it’s mandated. In the last 30 days, 54 percent of workers reported bypassing company AI tools and completing jobs themselves.
“Those numbers suggest general strike-levels of discontent with AI across every industry, out there in the real America beyond Silicon Valley and Wall Street, if not an outright revolutionary mood.
“Data center protests, fueled by the 70 percent of Americans who say they don’t want data centers near them, are only likely to grow going forward — especially now that they are producing tangible results.
“At least 48 data center projects were blocked or delayed in 2025, according to Data Center Watch, and the fight is only getting more fierce.”

Yes, a tremendous amount of information but putting it together like this saves YOU research time. Some will agree, others are completely sold on AI. No problem. Time will tell. Seven big tech companies (called the Magnificent Seven) control the game. Might be a good idea to see where your 401(k) retirement money is being invested. I’m old enough to remember 1987 and the .com bubble.
