Gavin Newsom has been busted in one of the most blatant self-dealing grifts in recent memory.
The California governor’s political action committee spent a staggering $1.5 million to purchase 67,000 copies of his own book. Those self-purchases made up roughly two-thirds of the book’s total sales — around 97,400 copies overall.
He then turned around and used those artificially inflated sales numbers to beg for even more donations.
You cannot make this stuff up.
This is classic Newsom: use other people’s money (donors to his PAC) to buy his own product, juice the numbers to look like a bestseller, then leverage that “success” to shake down supporters for more cash.
