Gov. Ron DeSantis recently criticized Faucism in the wake of Omicron variants of the Chinese coronavirus and promised that Florida would continue to protect your freedom to make your own decisions.

DeSantis spoke briefly about the Omicron virus’s emergence and the initial reactions of the market to the news. He noted that it wasn’t fearful of Omicron but was more concerned about the possibility of governments attempting to destroy the virus.

DeSantis said that in Florida, they won’t lock you down. They won’t be able to restrict your movement. They won’t be able to impose mandates. They won’t be able to close schools. He said they are going to protect your freedom to make your own choices.

DeSantis notes that Faucism is not something you can impose on the entire country or the entire state. He said it’s wrong.

DeSantis spoke out about Florida’s response over the summer to the Delta variant and its success in setting up dozens of treatment facilities for monoclonal antibodies.

DeSantis said in the last two months, Florida has had the lowest or one of the lowest COVID rates in the country. We have the lowest hospitalization count. He said they’ve had the lowest ICU percentage of any country, and you can see it surging elsewhere. He said that it’s not like you lock it down and it will go away, explaining that it was something society must deal with. He also noted that Florida offers good options for addressing the virus and promoting individual freedom.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has taken a dramatically different approach and mandated the vaccine for employees in the private sector. He has also forced certain businesses, including indoor restaurants, to discriminate against children under 5 years old.

De Blasio said they can continue to enjoy indoor dining, entertainment, and all the great things as long as they have received their first dose by mid-December.
