Global Organization COVID-19 Pandemic Response Briefing
The World Health Organization hosted a joint briefing with the heads of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and World Trade Organization on the global coronavirus pandemic response. The leaders announced a $50 billion pledge to invest in the fight against COVID-19, particularly making vaccinations and treatments more accessible and equitable worldwide. Following their opening statements, they answered a range of questions from foreign journalists on a new variant in Vietnam, trade policy during the pandemic, reexamining the role of the World Health Organization during a health crisis, and developing a multilateral agreement on the global response to pandemics.
