Is God Denying Christians of Their Champions?

In the beginning God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Pastor Steve.

It has been obvious, always, that God wants a direct relationship with His creation, which is to say with you; if I may, so lacking humility as usual, suggest, this is why He didn’t give Adam and Eve a pastor, a teacher, a preacher, a leader, a worship team, prayer meetings, (where all are welcome), and excuses.

It seems that people who, useful as a good teacher is, AND THEY ARE, rely too heavily on teachers forget to pick up God’s book and read occasionally. Is that you? It is I.

Too often, it seems, people go to other fallible people and ask what does God mean when He says, “…?” I’ve done it too many times.

Too often, to our detriment, ironically, there is somebody there willing to provide an answer. (Parents learn quickly, that an answer given too soon denies a child the opportunity to learn additional lessons on the way to finding an answer on their own; so good parents refrain from reflexively giving an answer and quelling their children’s desire to learn.)

Without prejudice I name a only a few champions:   Billy Graham, Pat Robertson, Kim Clement, Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump, Walter Williams. The left and the wrong have their champions, too: Ruth Badger Ginsburg comes to mind. Of course the left’s champions are absolutely poking their fingers in God’ eyes; some champions might only slow progress to answer, but others turn followers around -180 degrees – from the proper path, narrow as it is, and send them down the broader path.

I, myself, lost a great friend and teacher in 2020. He walked with the Lord for 40 years, loved God and obeyed God and taught me a great deal about the Word. I have been a poor student, though, meaning that I do not eagerly seek what I ought, and I fail to follow the Word as one in rebellion. But this doesn’t mean I cannot see what is happening.

God is calling you and me. And He is wanting us to seek Him, not an answer from a pastor, a teacher, a prayer group. He wants face-to-face, heart-to-heart relationship

I think that He may continue taking away our champions – our intermediaries – until there is no one left between you and Him and between me and Him.

In the interest of not losing any more champions, I think it would be best if we were to seek His face.
