James Woods’ Agent Dumps Him on July 4 in Email Only a Liberal Would Write

Leave it to a liberal to call this “patriotic.”

Conservative Hollywood actor James Woods, a man who has achieved iconic status from both his acting and his acid-tongued Twitter posts excoriating the left, was unceremoniously dumped by his talent agent on the Fourth of July —

In the name of patriotism, no less.

In a Twitter post published late Wednesday, Woods included a screen shot of an email his now-former agent Ken Kaplan had sent earlier in the evening.

“It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I’d say,” Kaplan wrote.

Being a classy kind of guy, Woods took the news graciously and responded with best wishes. But as he recounted the response, he also dropped in a tart reminder of exactly what liberals miss about the whole “patriotism” thing.

“My response: ‘Dear Ken, I don’t actually. I was thinking if you’re feeling patriotic, you would appreciate free speech and one’s right to think as an individual. Be that as it may, I want to thank you for all your hard work and devotion on my behalf. Be well.’”

How much productive work the agent might have been doing for Woods is open to question (premature talk of a Woods retirement was making headlines last year). But there was no question that Woods, as usual, hit the nail right on the head in his response.

As of Thursday afternoon, Woods’ account in these tweets was the only version of the story that was available, so we’re judging by the words in the email alone. But any way it’s sliced and diced, his agent’s claim of “feeling patriotic” is hard enough to swallow.

Not to be too sweeping here, but how often do liberals talk about being “American” — or even use the word — with the kind of unvarnished pride that conservatives do? They don’t, and there’s a reason for that.

(Remember how it took her husband being on the verge of winning the nomination to the presidency before Michelle Obama felt proud of her country for the first time in her adult life? It’s a pretty good bet most conservatives — even ones whose spouses aren’t runnning for president — start feeling that way a good deal earlier in life.)

But as Woods pointed out, even assuming the wording about patriotism was sincere, the application of it was decidedly not.

One of the essential elements of the United States is free speech, a point that has been increasingly lost on liberals who seem to think that the Constitution allows the government or society to curb “hate speech” – which in the 21st century actually means any speech liberals hate.

In fact, it might have been a flurry of Woods tweets on the Fourth of July that actually spurred the agent’s action. Liberals would have hated every word, but conservatives would have understood completely.

I want to wish all my fellow Americans a glorious and joyous celebration of our nation’s independence today. The United States of America. What a heavenly creation she is! July 4, 1776

Heavenly creation? You can almost hear libs gagging at that.

don’t bother to pretend anymore. They want a mob of illegal aliens to pour across borderless, unregulated boundaries of our sovereign nation. They want this for one reason only: not for the sake of compassion, nor humanity, just for .

The truth has to hurt.

There were others, about Dan Rather and the Trump administration’s decision to change the federal government’s stance on colleges using race when they decide whether to admit students, but the ideas are pretty clear.

Stamping out ideas that aren’t popular has a long and distasteful history in the world, and it’s one of the reasons that the inspired men who gathered in Philadelphia to hammer out the Constitution more than two centuries ago wanted to make sure the government they were creating would not have the power to do it.

But for liberals these days, it’s called “patriotism.”
