Looking Up in Wonder

This probably started when my wife and I moved to the Northern climes of America above the 45^th parallel in a rural setting with very little light pollution. We lived on a farm with much open space where you could see most of the sky. The stars at night were just magnificent, especially on crisp fall or winter nights. I would take the dogs out at night as well as early morning when it was still dark and the brilliant display of God’s creation never failed to amaze me. I began to recognize the various constellations and their patterns. There is the Big Dipper in all its glory, Orion with its belt and sword, the little cluster Pleiades also known as the seven sisters and on the really clear nights the Milky Way was visible directly overhead. One star that always amazes me is Polaris, the North Star, which is easily found by lining up the two stars at the front of the Big Dipper.

It amazes me because of all the stars in the evening sky it is the only one that never moves. Never. All the other heavenly bodies have their courses, rotating in a counter clockwise motion but not the North Star. It is motionless. This is why it has been used for navigation for millennia. It is a point of reference you can always count on it to be rock steady, never to move. In fact, our bedroom window faces due north and at night I could look out and up through the window next to my bed anytime throughout the night and there would be Polaris centered in the small pane of glass. Always.

I began to wonder how that was possible if our earth is spinning and moving through space? What I discovered has left me more puzzled than ever as to our cosmology, the science of the world and the order and course of the heavenly realms.

According to my investigation, modern science tells us, as well as NASA, the earth which is 25,000 miles in diameter is spinning on its tilted axis at approximately 1000 mph at the equator which takes 24 hours to complete. This speed varies or slows down as you go north, so let’s say at Denver you’re at about 800 mph and so on. I imagine if you are standing at the North Pole, you would be slowly rotating like a merry go round? Not only are we spinning at 1000 mph but at the same time we are whizzing through the vacuum of outer space in our orbit around the Sun at 66,600 mph from a distance of 93,000,000 miles away. Hang on because we’re not done yet. “They” claim the entire solar system is travelling at 144 miles per second, approximately a half a million mph in its orbit around the center of our Milky Way Galaxy! That’s three different motions all occurring at the same time.

It’s here I must ask you, do you feel as if you are moving? Of course not. Incredibly we feel nothing. So again, the question becomes, how is it possible that all of our star patterns and constellations remain the same night after night, month after month, year after year since the dawn of man? These astronomic motions didn’t just happen a few years ago but happened at the beginning of time. We know that the earliest civilizations starting with Sumer dating back to 5500 BC studied and recorded the same constellations in the sky that we still see today, as well as the Pharoh’s of Egypt, the Inca’s, the Mayans, Ancient Greece and Rome.

They all studied the exact star patterns. Yet, we are told our Earth and our entire Solar System is screaming through the Galaxies at 12,441,600 miles per day. Multiply that by 7500 years. Don’t you think that something in our sky would have changed? But it hasn’t. Not one bit. Everything still remains the same. In fact, the North Star hasn’t moved from its heavenly position ever! If you observe Polaris on January 1^st and wait 6 months and observe again on June 1^st, we would be 186 million miles directly across from the first location. And yet there is Polaris square in the middle of my bedroom window pane as it was 6 months earlier. I’m sure I’m not the only one to question these things, am I?

Science also tells us the next closest star is 4.2 light years away. That number looks like 24,690,226,567,371.12 or 24 quadrillion miles away (I think). Polaris however is way beyond that at 323 light years away. The question that started this investigation was why does Polaris never change its location? It never moves in the sky. I have come to the conclusion that we are not spinning at all. Nor are we flying through infinite space at incomprehensible speeds and distances. If you look at the time lapse photograph above you may conclude as I have that it is the stars that are rotating above us around Polaris located directly above the North Pole and always has. That’s a real timelapse photograph. There are hundreds of them on line taken over decades. They display the exact same trail patterns over and over. I do realize this goes against what science proclaims, but facts are facts. Is there another logical conclusion? I look forward to hearing them.
