Obama’s Plan To Defeat Donald Trump Just Blew Up In His Face

Barack Obama thought he had it all figured out.
He thought a secret group of voters would rise up during the 2016 election and deal Donald Trump a decisive defeat.
But this scheme blew up on the launch pad.
Obama and liberal groups were making a major push to naturalize Hispanic immigrants and register them as Democrats.
The left were counting on immigrants being so repulsed by Donald Trump’s anti-amnesty, pro-border wall rhetoric that they would show up in droves to become citizens and vote against the Republican nominee.
But reality dealt Obama a disastrous blow.
The Washington Times reports:
“Immigrant-rights advocates had vowed to make 2016 the year of the anti-Donald Trump citizenship surge, hoping to sign up a million new immigrants eager to send a message rejeting the GOP’s presidential candidate — but so far they’re falling short, with naturalization rates only slightly higher than four years ago.
There’s little question that Mr. Trump’s outsized rhetoric has angered Hispanic activists overall, and Mexican immigrants in particular. But applications for citizenship are up just 6.6 percent compared to the same period in 2012, according to the latest data from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and actual approvals are down slightly…
…Hispanic-rights groups insisted voters will punish Mr. Trump for his attacks, and anecdotes abound of Hispanic voters saying they’re eager to send a message to him.
But the latest controversy may not end up mattering much, at least when it comes to pushing immigrants to become citizens. That’s because USCIS says it generally takes at least five months to process a citizenship application, and with the election slightly less than five months away, the unofficial cut-off date is already gone.
April and May figures have yet to be released, but through the first three months of this year, 252,254 immigrants submitted citizenship applications, and USCIS approved 177,713. During the same period in 2012, the totals were 238,065 applications submitted and 179,548 approved.”
What may be hurting the left’s efforts to naturalize Mexican immigrants is the fact that Trump is not as unpopular with Hispanics as previously thought.
The latest NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll found Trump winning 32% of the Hispanic vote.
By comparison, Mitt Romney won only 27% of the Hispanic vote in 2012.
Other data found Trump just as popular with Hispanics as Hillary Clinton.
Writing for Fox News Latino, Lili Gil Valletta reports:
“Based on big data analysis over the last 30 days as of June 1st, Trump reports 37 percent of Hispanic positive sentiment versus 41 percent for Clinton. Surprisingly, the candidates tie in negative sentiment across Hispanics at 38 percent, discounting the fact that Latinos default as Democrats or are completely turned off by Trump’s off-color comments. After all, over 50 percent of Latinos identify as political independents.”
The mistake many liberals make is they believe all Hispanics are defined by their race and that “illegal alien” equates to “Latino”.
Therefore, in the liberals’ minds, any attempt to stop illegal immigration is a slur against Hispanics.
But the polls tell a different story.
And so does the left’s failed attempt to generate a tidal wave of naturalized Hispanic citizens as new Democratic voters in 2016.
