Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., made headlines on New Year’s Eve for leaving her home district and traveling to Florida. Ocasio-Cortez faced criticism for going without a mask during a caseload surge in her district.

AOC said the criticism of her breaking her own mask mandate rules was because she was so beautiful that Republicans wanted — but couldn’t — date her.

Now she has tested positive for coronavirus, according to her office’s verified Twitter account.

“Representative Ocasio-Cortez has received a positive test result for COVID-19,” her office tweeted on Sunday evening. “She is experiencing symptoms and recovering at home.”

According to the statement, Ocasio-Cortez has received both a vaccine and a booster shot, courtesy of the Operation Warp Speed rollout by former President Donald Trump.

Ocasio-Cortez, 32, remains very unlikely to suffer hospitalization or death due to her age and vaccination status.

In the statement, Ocasio-Cortez urged her constituents to follow CDC guidelines.

Yet Ocasio-Cortez was eating on a crowded patio and hugging strangers at a drag bar, despite CDC recommendations to wear a mask outdoors when unable to maintain six feet of distance, according to its website.

Some conservatives criticized her hypocrisy.

Ocasio-Cortez was widely panned when she responded and called conservatives “creepy weirdos” and accused Republicans of “projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet.”

Ocasio-Cortez has also faced criticism for fleeing her own state during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in New York City. After all, she criticized Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for doing the same thing last year during the Great Texas Freeze.

On Twitter last year, Ocasio-Cortez took issue with Cruz’s decision to “abandon his constituents again as they get slammed with $16,000 electrical bills.”

A year later, Ocasio-Cortez has failed to take her own advice, and she’s failed to live up to her own standards for other congressmembers.
