RBN STREAMS WERE DOWN FOR OVER 2 HOURS

Late Thursday night there was an apparent power outage upstream from – and for – our Internet provider used here at RBN HQ.

This led to a total loss of wired/hard-lined Internet connectivity from the source of our broadcast equipment.

Websites were not affected, and are in no way ever effected by a loss of Internet at the office/studio, excepting our ability to easily update them from RBN.

Our Internet Service Provider has been contacted, is aware of that issue, has informed us of the problems they see, and advise us that we should be fine soon.

The connection has been hacked back into functioning temporarily to resume our live stream(s)/broadcast(s), and HOPEFULLY we’ll be back at full power by the start of the Friday morning live broadcast schedule. 

Thanks for your patience with these issues, as they do occur a little more often lately due to large-scale infrastructure updates nearby to the RBN HQ here in the Central Texas Austin-Metro area….

(i.e.: road work on IH-35 in the Austin area, and local road work here in Round Rock literally blocks away… not to mention the massive growth in the area including a data center that is only ~400 yards away from the RBN studios/offices)

….which obviously increase our vulnerability to outages in our live stream / broadcasts, due to subsequent loss(es) of Internet at the studio.

These issues and outages are more likely to occur during overnight hours as most businesses don’t require the amount of bandwidth and up-time that RBN does, so the crews will often work on these sensitive areas and equipment during that time.

Be assured: we at RBN have the top-of-the-line Internet service (Enterprise level), but that doesn’t preclude RBN from experiencing problems — It only ensures that we are at the top of the list to maintain connectivity and receive attention.
