An off-duty Secret Service agent fatally shot a dog being walked on a leash through a Brooklyn neighborhood Monday night, police sources and witnesses said.

The agent, whose name has not been released, was turning the corner from E. 8th St. onto Caton Place in Windsor Terrace about 9:45 p.m. when he came across a man and his girlfriend walking with a female Belgian Shepherd.

The dog started barking, and the startled agent pulled out his gun and shot her, police sources said.

“She scared a cop who was walking home,” the visibly shaken dog’s owner said as he covered his eyes. “He shot her and she’s dead.”

Walker Blankinship, 51, the stable master at the nearby Kensington Stables, was across the street outside the stables when he heard the shot.

Police said the agent told investigators that the dog charged at him. And in a statement to The Daily Beast, the Secret Service alleged the dog was unleashed.
