Suspect Detained at UT Arlington After Order to Shelter in Place

Police at the University of Texas at Arlington said they apprehended a suspect after earlier reports indicated a gunman was spotted in the Architecture Building on campus.
No weapon was ever found, according to police, who said students could resume normal activities.
University officials said investigators conducted multiple sweeps of the Architecture Building. They said final exams will continue as planned.
The university campus is roughly 15 miles east of Fort Worth.

Police later said in an alert to students that officers were “with the man,” whom they described as a “suspicious white male.” They said to stay away from the building until further notice.
The university campus is roughly 15 miles east of Fort Worth.
