Two teenage boys chased down a man on their bikes after he kidnapped a little girl from her grandmother’s front yard. Both brave souls are now being hailed as heroes.
Jocelyn Rojas was playing in her front yard on the 100 block of Jennings Drive in Lancaster Township, Pennsylvania, when she disappeared Thursday afternoon. Authorities believe a man had lured the 5-year-old from the yard with the promise of cold ice cream so when she got close enough, he grabbed her by the neck and stuffed her inside his maroon sedan.
Boggs, 15, and his friend took off on their bicycles to search after hearing about the news. About a half-mile away, they spotted Jocelyn in a sedan. Not only was the girl inside, the driver was acting very suspicious.
The two teens chased the alleged kidnapper on their bikes for 15 heart-pounding minutes. The driver apparently knew he was being followed and then Temar pulled up next to the kidnapper. He looked the suspect in the eye. Then Temar said three words that terrified the man. “I see you.”
Jocelyn’s relatives and neighbors took turns hugging Temar.
“He’s our hero. There is just no words to say,” Jocelyn’s grandmother Tracey Clay said.
The next day the kidnapper was caught after Temar and Chris were able to give a great description of him.
As the number of children being kidnapped continues to increase, parents should double their guard to protect them. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (citing U.S. Department of Justice reports), nearly 800,000 children are reported missing each year or more than 2,000 a day.
