The New York City Police Department is searching for suspects involved in a Monday attack by a group of teens, one wielding a hammer, against a 67-year-old man after a confrontation on a Brooklyn bus.
Footage of the incident obtained by the New York Post shows the group yelling at the older man on the B6 bus in East Flatbush as a woman attempts to keep them separated. “Get off the bus!” the woman told the group repeatedly.
The video shows the older man beginning to walk away before turning back and walking toward the door.
One of the teens then throws something at the older man, who runs off of the bus, only to find himself face to face with a teen wielding a hammer.
The man is then surrounded by the group of teens who begin to attack him, with the hammer wielding teen striking him. “‘You’re gonna kill him!’ one woman on the bus screams, as others can be heard crying in the background. The clip cuts off right as one of the assailants moves to kick the senior citizen from behind as he reels on the ground,” according to the New York Post.
An NYPD spokeswoman said the attack occurred at around 2 pm on Monday, at Glenwood Road and Albany Avenue. The suspects are still at large.
The older man, who according to the New York Post appeared to be in a security officer’s uniform, suffered a cut to the head from a hammer strike.
