They hold up their phone and scan the area, with the game processing the video that the camera is taking. So, if you think about what this company has, what data they are collecting and selling to god-knows who, it gets creepy… They have an army of people physically walking through towns to exactly where they are told and recording real-time video footage of the outside or even inside of the desired area. The game makers know where you are, who you are with… even what you are eating! And the players are doing this voluntarily. For free! They know the location of the home and have LIVE video footage of the inside of the home, of it’s layout, of the family members, even of the dog. They could even prompt the gamer to start video recording at a specific time. Simply put, they know who is home and what those people are doing at home.
