Why Would Christian Leaders Pray for War in the Name of Jesus?

Why would a Christian leader ever pray to go to war? Sadly, millions of American Christians in their patriotic fervor to support America’s serial wars seem to forget the teachings of Jesus such as “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God” and “Love your neighbor as yourself”. Pastor John Hagee (founder of Christians United For Israel) of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX made such a “War Prayer” while on Benny Hinn’s This Is Your Day TV program shortly before the second war on Iraq started in 2003. This four-minute video starts with a report of We Hold These Truths’ vigil (1 & 2) held at the “Night To Honor Israel” event featuring Pastor John Hagee at the Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada, CO, and concludes with Hagee’s “War Prayer”.
