NYPD’s “chokehold” killing of father sparks outrage

The New York City Police Department is under intense fire from community members after video emerged online of Eric Garner, a 43-year-old father of six, dying after officer’s placed him in a chokehold for selling bootleg cigarettes. Critics are equating the department’s use of the controversial move with murder, angry it continues to be widely used despite a more than 20-year-old ban.
