Gov. Matt Bevin (R) signed S.B. 150 into law today, making Kentucky the nation’s 15th state to honor Constitutional Carry.

WBKO reported that the law creates “a new section of Chapter 237 to allow concealed deadly weapons to be carried by persons age 21 and over without a license in the same locations where concealed carry license holders may carry them.”

Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights, the group responsible for stopping some last-minute amendments from sullying the bill, was on hand for the signing.

“The National Association for Gun Rights again commends Gov. Bevin for his commitment to the Constitutional rights of the people of Kentucky,” Brown told Gunpowder Magazine. “Thanks to Kentucky’s lawmakers and Bevin’s leadership, the state will be a freer and safer place with Constitutional Carry in place. Kentucky and its fellow Constitutional Carry states are embracing the type of liberty our Founders intended for all Americans.”

Bevin told Gunpowder Magazine at CPAC 2019:

I will sign [the Constitutional Carry bill], yes. I’ve been advocating for this since long before I was ever in government. I think this is nothing but an affirmation of the Second Amendment. It’s something that’s actually already the right of Americans. Some states have chosen to restrict that and/or remove that, and this is just an affirmation of the very Second Amendment that has been our right, all 27 words of it since it was written 200 and some years ago.
