Matt Drudge ran this headline on Monday.

There is evidence disturbed and violent individuals are among us but little they are connected to the Islamic State.

In fact, it can be argued the Islamic State is not what Matt Drudge, the alt-right, and the establishment media say it is.

The Islamic State is not a monolithic force and it certainly is not a state. It is a loose confederation of Salafist jihadis scattered across Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Nigeria, Libya, India, and far afield as Uzbekistan, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It includes Boko Haram, Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, Jundallah, the Mujahideen Shura Council, Ansar al-Tawhid fi’Bilad al-Hind, Ansar al-Khliafah, and many other groups.

Despite what Drudge and the alt-right tell us, the Islamic State is not active in the United States. It has not crossed the Rio Grande from Mexico. It is not arriving in boats from Africa.

Los Zetas is operating in the United States but not the Islamic State.

Mara Salvatrucha, the notorious Mexican drug gang, operates out of Charlotte, North Carolina, but you would be hard pressed to find the Islamic State there.

The Trinitarios, Bloods, Crips, and Latin Kings kill more in a weekend than Islamic State jihadists supposedly in America have killed since Abu Musab al-Zarqawi allegedly created Jama’at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, the progenitor of ISIS and later the Islamic State, in 1999.

The alt-right is feeding on the neocon narrative.

And the neocon narrative is—and has been since Richard Perle and Douglas Feith tried to bend Benjamin Netanyahu’s ear in 1996—to spread “creative destruction” across the Arab and Muslim world.

Since 9/11 an integral part of the neocon plan for total war has consisted of a concerted propaganda effort to convince Americans there are evil Muslims “who hate our freedom” lurking in the shadows.

This fantasy scenario is betrayed by the fact the FBI has arranged virtually every high-profile terror plot in the United States. “They’re manufacturing terrorism cases,” Michael German, a former undercover agent with the FBI, told The New York Times in June.

The neocon narrative works so well Donald Trump made it the centerpiece of his presidential campaign.

The latest bad guy in the never ending drama of Muslims out to destroy America is Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized American from Afghanistan. He is suspected of planting a bomb in a dumpster on Saturday in New York City. On Monday he was shot and apprehended by police in New Jersey.

The establishment media is abuzz with tales of Rahami traveling to Afghanistan where he was allegedly radicalized. It is said he spent time in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and Quetta, Pakistan.

“Upon returning from Pakistan in 2011 to the United States, he had to go through secondary screening because he visited an area of Pakistan known for its Taliban presence,” CNN reports.

If not for the CIA and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, the Taliban would not exist today. The CIA told Selig Harrison of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars it created the Taliban. “They told me these people were fanatical, and the more fierce they were the more fiercely they would fight the Soviets,” he said. “I warned them that we were creating a monster.”

“The Taliban’s brand of extreme Islam had no historical roots in Afghanistan,” writes Phil Gasper.

It was planted there by the CIA and Pakistan’s ISIS.

If Ahmad Khan Rahami was radicalized by the Taliban that radicalization is the result of Salafist extremism inculcated by CIA and Saudi-financed madrassas or religious schools.

But this of course is not part of the narrative now unfolding.

The establishment and the alt-right media led by Drudge, Breitbart, and now Infowars fail to put Rahami within the proper historical context. Instead of rational discussion, we are fed hysterical Islamophobia and draconian solutions, including concentration camps.

Instead of following George Washington’s advice on foreign entanglements, we are told by Donald Trump and his neocon advisers we must “bomb the shit” out of the Muslims. This call is echoed by the alt-right media.
