Oh My! Michelle Fields and Ben Shapiro Resign from Breitbart after Fudging Story about Trump Campaign Manager
March 15, 2016 in News by RBN Staff
Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields made headlines last week when she claimed Trump Campaign Manager Corey Lewandowski grabbed her and threw her down on the ground at the Jupiter, Florida victory speech on Tuesday night.
Video now proves that Fields exaggerated the story for some strange reason.
The Gateway Pundit’s Kristinn Taylor was in the room at the time and did not see the incident in question. He was the last reporter to film Corey closing up the event with reporters.
Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields filed criminal assault charges with Jupiter, Florida police against Donald Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski on Friday several days after the incident. Fields claims she suffered a slight bruise when Lewandowski “intentionally” assaulted her.
Video released on Friday shows a fragmented version of Lewandowski walking past Fields.
(Lewandowski is in the blue shirt. Fields is in the white suit.)
On Saturday a new video was released. It clearly shows Lewandowski trying to get Trump out of the room after ending the presser. Reporters are swarming Trump including Michelle Fields. Secret Service is also around Trump.
The video shows Lewandowski walking past Fields. No contact was made. She didn’t even flinch.
FOR THE RECORD: I spoke with Corey Lewandowski on Friday in St. Louis. I’d caution the anti-Trump crowd from pushing this story further.
This video is very damning for the young anti-Trump reporter.
Good luck with that lawsuit, Michelle.
On Sunday Michelle Fields and Ben Shapiro resigned from Breitbart.
Ben is upset that Breitbart did not take the sham story seriously enough.
Evidently Michelle’s five minutes of fame is not up.
Maybe The New York Times has an opening?
Buzzfeed reported:
“Today I informed the management at Breitbart News of my immediate resignation,” the reporter at the center of the controversy at the conservative site told BuzzFeed News, the week after Trump’s campaign manager allegedly grabbed her.
Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields and editor-at-large Ben Shapiro are resigning from the company over the site’s handling of Donald Trump’s campaign manager’s alleged assault on Fields, BuzzFeed News has learned.
Fields and Shapiro informed Breitbart News chairman Steve Bannon of their decision Sunday night.
“Today I informed the management at Breitbart News of my immediate resignation,” Fields said in a statement sent to BuzzFeed News. “I do not believe Breitbart News has adequately stood by me during the events of the past week and because of that I believe it is now best for us to part ways.”
In his own statement, Shapiro said the episode was emblematic of how he believes the site’s management had sold out the legacy of its founder and namesake, the late Andrew Breitbart.
“Andrew’s life mission has been betrayed,” Shapiro wrote. “Indeed, Breitbart News, under the chairmanship of Steve Bannon, has put a stake through the heart of Andrew’s legacy. In my opinion, Steve Bannon is a bully, and has sold out Andrew’s mission in order to back another bully, Donald Trump; he has shaped the company into Trump’s personal Pravda, to the extent that he abandoned and undercut his own reporter, Breitbart News’ Michelle Fields, in order to protect Trump’s bully campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, who allegedly assaulted Michelle.”
