Oregon’s state Department of Education is ordering all public schools to install menstruation products in all bathrooms, including those designated for boys.

According to the Daily Caller, the new policy is the result of a bill recently passed by the state legislature that has been called the “Menstrual Dignity Act.” The bill demands that all public schools and universities make menstrual products available in at least two restrooms per building.

For the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year, the Oregon Education Department has mandated that such products be made available “in all restrooms.” The new policy was announced in an email from Sasha Grenier, who is the Sexuality Education and School Health Specialist for the state’s Education Department. The department also issued a guidebook outlining the details of the policy.

“Importantly, this law affirms the right to menstrual dignity for transgender, intersex, non-binary, and two-spirit students by addressing the challenges that some students have managing menstruation,” the guidelines read, “while minimizing negative attention that could put them at risk of harm and navigating experiences of gender dysphoria during menstruation.”

The guide also falsely claims that any student is capable of ovulating, even though the science shows this only occurs with females. The same guidelines dictate that teachers and professors use “gender-affirming language within menstrual product instructions,” including terms such as “menstruating students” and “menstrual products,” as opposed to correct terms such as “female” or “feminine hygiene products.”

Additional goals sought as a result of this new policy include increasing “awareness of two spirit people, of their historical standing in Tribal Nation communities as highly respected and honored people,” “integrating  trans-specific puberty information in K-12 instruction,” and “integrating intersex information and body variation K-12 in anatomy, reproduction, [and] puberty lessons.”

The language reflected in the new guidance reaffirms the commitment of the state’s Democratically-controlled government to the false and debunked notion of “transgenderism,” which claims that there are more than two genders, that anyone can change their genders at any given time, and that someone of one gender may experience biological and sexual changes that are unique to the opposite gender.
