Colleges across the US are now debating whether or not to put trigger warnings on classic literature. And that’s because the kids themselves are actually requesting them. Back in the 80s, it was Tipper Gore’s PMRC that was intent on putting labels on our music, and that effectively stifled artists’ creativity, if not killed it outright. Now, almost 30 years later, it’s our kids who are trying to do the same thing, this time with classic literature. That’s right: the up-and-coming generation is embracing the PC nanny state.
