A little more than a year ago, Hillary Clinton, the former First Lady and Senator from New York, was likely packing her bags to move back into the White House. With decades of political capital, she was running against a real estate mogul and reality show host who’d never held a political office. To inspire more confidence, the mainstream media machine was doggedly at her disposal. She absolutely couldn’t lose, right?

But, on November 8, 2016, Hillary Clinton received the earth shattering news that she wouldn’t be the next president of the United States. Lately, she’s being constantly reminded that she never will. Not now. Not ever.

After more than three decades in the spotlight, a Clinton collapse feels nearly complete. Recent remarks from former supporters Donna Brazile, the previous interim chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat from New York, highlight the public demise of Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Nothing was off limits in Brazile’s scathing book “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House.” In this memoir, Brazile details a dreaded call she felt compelled to make to Senator Bernie Sanders in September of 2016. During the heart-to-heart, the interim chairwoman of the DNC informed Sanders of what many people already knew. The presidential primary had been rigged against him in order to assure a Hillary Clinton victory. As if this weren’t enough, Brazile also notified Sanders about a joint fundraising agreement between the DNC and the Clinton campaign.

In her book, Brazile states, “The agreement—signed by Amy Dacey, the former CEO of the DNC, and Robby Mook with a copy to Marc Elias—specified that in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised.” The deal also supposedly required the DNC to report to Clinton’s campaign regarding all other hiring, data analytics, mailings, and budgeting.

As if allegations about the cheating ways of the Clinton campaign weren’t enough, Brazile admits she considered replacing Clinton with former Vice President Joe Biden after Clinton fainted during the waning days of the race. The losing candidate fainted while attending an outdoor ceremony in New York City commemorating the 15th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

Brazile details how she already knew Clinton was battling pneumonia. She even saw Clinton while attending a Manhattan gala two days before the fainting incident occurred. In her memoir, she describes the failed presidential candidate as being “wobbly on her feet” and having a “rattled cough.”

Needless to say, after Brazile’s diatribe against the candidate she once pledged her support to, Hillary Clinton likely won’t be asking for an autographed copy of “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House.”

Gillibrand, who holds Hillary Clinton’s former senate seat, was an early supporter of Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. She even wrote an essay last year outlining why she was supporting the first female Democratic nominee for president. In this heartwarming essay, Gillibrand says, “In my adult life, politically, no one has inspired me to get off the sidelines and truly make a difference more than Hillary Clinton has.” The Senator from New York also gushes that she “was truly honored that President Bill Clinton campaigned for me in my first run for Congress in 2006.”

Recently, during an interview for a New York Times podcast “The New Washington,” Gillibrand was asked if Bill Clinton should have vacated the presidency after his sordid relationship with an intern became public almost 20 years ago. Shockingly, the once staunch ally of both Hillary and Bill Clinton answered in the affirmative.

Criticizing Hillary and Bill Clinton certainly isn’t a new concept. Republicans have been justifiably doing it for decades. However, Democrats are seemingly jumping off the duo’s bandwagon at breakneck speed. The 2016 election shed light on the unpopularity of America’s once all-powerful political couple.

Democrats who are closely eyeing the 2018 and 2020 elections want to ensure the Clintons don’t ruin their chances of success. Therefore, more defections from the Clinton camp are likely on the horizon.
