Fed-up Chicagoans weren’t pleased when they confronted their local politician over the possibility that the growing illegal alien crisis would be coming to their neighborhood.

“…can’t we close the borders of Chicago…”

Residents of the South Side community of Roseland had gathered at the Shelton Heights Church last week in opposition to a plan that would see a vacant property turned into a shelter to accommodate the never-ending flow of aliens. It was there that the community that had voted nearly entirely in support of electing Joe Biden president had a lesson on reaping what you sow.

“I wanted to know if there is a capacity limit and what is that limit if there is one? And why can’t we close the borders of Chicago or the state of Illinois in the first place? Why can’t we close the border?” asked one resident to Alderman Ronnie Mosley, representative of Ward 21 who had earned the endorsement of Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D).

In response, the alderman explained, “I don’t know if there’s a limit. I do know that when you are seeking asylum you are granted protection from the U.S. to not return. So that is a process that folks are going through when they come here and they get their interview and then the Texas governor sends them to Illinois and specifically Chicago.”

Still unclear on who the fault resided with for the added element of danger to their community, the woman sought clarity and asked, “So they get to come, once they do an interview with Texas, they get to come regardless? Texas says you are an asylum seeker, you’re being persecuted, so yeah, you can leave your country and come here and go and do whatever you want?”

It was then that Mosley attempted to salvage the Democratic Party’s reputation by asserting that, while the Biden administration was responsible for clearing the aliens into the country, somehow it was Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) fault for seeing them to their preferred final destination.

“Not Texas. It’s the federal government is the one that does the process around asylum-seeking. It is Texas that who making the decision to send them to Chicago,” the politician insisted.

“That’s what I wanted to know. Can we say no we won’t take anymore?” the constituent’s follow-up question came, earning a bubble-bursting response, “It has to come from the federal government.”

As CBS 2 Chicago reported, the gathering was in opposition to using a property to shelter aliens when $15 million in taxpayer money had already been allocated to develop a housing and retail project for residents in a community where there is already a “backlog of housing” according to the president of the Far South Community Development Corporation, Abraham Lacy.

Pastor Leonardo Gilbert of the church hosting the meeting spoke to growing safety concerns, saying, “Before the migrants come, I have security because in our community, that’s an issue already. We have security because we’re in a community that has a level of crisis already.”

As community members learned the alderman was unable to guarantee that the property would not be utilized to the benefit of illegal aliens over their own needs, social media users reminded them how votes have consequences and it was past time that lifelong Democrat voters realized that.
