just a thought- the f16`s do not have be manned. they have had the ability to use the f16`s as unmanned drone aircraft for yrs. this would be a way to test that tech in battle since the us air force seems to plan on going to mainly unmanned aircraft in the future. This was what the admiral told maverick in the last top gun movie and i believe it was a prophetic statement.
