Speaking at a Republican fundraiser in Mississippi on Monday, Senator Rand Paul bashed the on going militarization of police inside the United States by describing it as “stupid” and “ridiculous”.

When asked whether or not the authority of government as expressed by the police should be decreased, Senator Paul responded:

“I think we can start out with no longer dispensing bayonets to local police forces, FEMA gave out 12,000 bayonets last year, thats just stupid.”

“We’re giving out mine Resistant Ambush Protection Vehicles, 20 ton vehicles,” Paul continued. “Dundee, Michigan a town of three thousand has a 20 ton Mine Resistant Ambush Protection Vehicle, thats ridiculous.”

The potential presidential hopefully went on to explain that rules regulating the use of such militarized vehicles are usually disregarded.

“We write in the rules its not suppose to be used for riot control and yet thats what its being used for.”

“Its suppose to be for terrorism but try to explain to me when terrorists are going to attack Dundee, Michigan or Fargo, North Dakota,” the Kentucky Senator said.  “We’ve Just gone crazy on all this stuff.”
