The British government under the leadership of Theresa May has been a total disaster. She’s now facing a potential no confidence vote from within her own party due to her failure to deliver on Brexit.
Letters are being lodged with Graham Brady, Chairman of the influential 1922 Committee, ahead of a Tory Party showdown on Monday.
The fallout comes amid mounting fury from disgruntled Conservative backbenchers following publication of Mrs May’s 12-point Brexit manifesto.
Leave MPs are furious at what they see as Mrs May’s caving in to demands from the Remain wing of the party to steer Britain towards a soft Brexit.
On Sunday, ITV’s Robert Peston tweeted: “Sources confirm letter calling for vote of confidence in @theresa_may leadership going in to @Graham_Brady, chair of 1922.
It’s been roughly two years since the British people voted in favor of leaving the European Union. But despite the vote, the process has been slow walked to the point where May is trying to push this soft-Brexit agenda that isn’t even Brexit at all. It’s basically Brexit in name only.
The deal has been roundly criticized by Brexit supporters and prompted David Davis the Brexit Secretary to resign.
UKIP’s leader Gerard Batten called May’s move a betrayal of the British people.
Nigel Farage did an hour and a half show where he went into detail about the situation. Like Batten he was not happy with the soft-Brexit proposal.
The whole thing is a big joke. It shows what a sham democracy is. Even when the people vote for something, there is no guarantee that whatever the people vote for will get implemented.
May should be immediately removed as British prime minister for her failure to implement the will of the people. It defies logic how such an insanely stupid woman ever rose to such a high level in the world of politics.
